Mexa com alguém do seu tamanho! - como dizer isto em Inglês?

So you're in school and you see a fight starting between two of your classmates. One of them is the typical bully: big, too old for his grade and always looking for trouble. The other classmate is your friend who's too small to fight with anyone. As a way to defend your friend, here's what you say to the bully: go pick on someone your own size! That's a way to tell somebody they should abuse someone who is big enough to fight back. It's very common to see children using that expression.

Another interesting expression with the word pick is "to pick someone's brain". I'm going to take myself as an example to explain this expression. Sometimes I'm out of ideas for new posts here on the blog. So I turn to some of my friends who are also interested in English language and pick their brains. What does that mean? I obtain ideas and information from them. We've all been there. Sometimes it's hard to find inspiration to do certain things. It's not like you're stealing people's ideas. You're just trying to get inspired to get going.

Now imagine you and your girlfriend have very strong personalities and slightly different tastes on things. During vacation, you two are having a hard time trying to decide which place to go. It's such a dilemma you even get into a small disagreement. So while you're telling your friend what's happening between you and your girlfriend, here's what you say: I had a bone to pick with my girlfriend over where we'd go on vacation. Again, here's the expression: a bone to pick with. That's a small disagreement you have with someone. Nothing too serious. That's all for today. Talk to you next time!
