Imagine you go partying one night with one of your friends and he kind of loses it. What I mean by that is that he crosses the line and gets blasted way too much. Now he's drunk and needs to be taken home where he'll probably get told off by his very conservative mother. What you didn't expect though is that his mother would blame you for everything that went wrong that night. She says: How could you let him drink so much alcohol without trying to stop him? When you say you're not you bother's keeps, it means you're not responsible for what someone does or what happens to them. Your friend is of legal age and therefore entitled to independent action.
