Expressões com a palavra WRESTLE

Você já ouviu falar da palavra wrestle? Ela é muito semelhante à palavra struggle em significado, como em I struggle with a lot of problems. Essa sentença também poderia ser I wrestle with a lot of problems. O interessante é que, assim como acontece com muitos verbos na língua inglesa, quando acrescido duma preposição diferente, seu significado muda. Vamos conhecer algumas dessas expressões com a palavra wrestle.

Wrestle something from someone: imagina que você entre numa briga física com um bandido e, depois de muito esforço físico, você consegue tirar a arma dele. Essa ideia de tirar algo de alguém depois de muito esforço físico é passada através da expressão to wrestle something from someone, como em: Wally wrestled the gun away from Max and threw it out the window. Wrestle something into something: Imagina que você está fazendo muito esforço físico para encaixar algo ou passar algo maior por uma passagem menos. Perceba que a palavra wrestle está sempre ligada a ideia de esforço físico. Wrestle with someone: Finalmente uma expressão que se refere diretamente ao ato de entrar em atrito físico com alguém, brigar. Wrestle with something: Se wrestle with someone significa entrar em atrito físico com alguém, to wrestle with something significa fazer esforço físico com algum objeto na tentativa de encaixá-lo em algum lugar ou simplesmente locomovê-lo. Veja o exemplo: He wrestled with the piano and finally got it to move. The two men were wrestling with the heavy trunk for nearly ten minutes, trying to get it up the stairs. Num sentido mais figurado, to wrestle with a problem, por exemplo, significa lidar com um problema difícil quando ele requer de você uma disposição para lutar e solucioná-lo. Lutar com um problema.
