If you have any bias against people that belong to a common group such as politicians, musicians, artists, religious leaders, because you believe they share the same flaws, there's an expression for that. Let's suppose for instance 'James' doesn't put a lot of faith in politicians (which is something very common among us I must say), and during an election season, there's a candidate running for mayor of his city that's received popular approval since the very beginning of his candidacy. Everybody he knows, from his neighbors to his coworkers, say nice things about him, but James is still very skeptical about which one to vote for. He's convicted that all politicians without an exception are starred with the same brush and therefore shouldn't be given any credit at all.

When James said all politicians are starred with the same brush, he actually meant that they're all unreliable to the same extent. No matter if a certain politician has a long and good history of working in his community, in James' point of view there's always something very fishy going on. I'm of the opinion, however, that although politicians (especially brazilian ones) have an awful reputation and seem not to care about it, there must be some exceptions that end up being overshadowed by such massive corruption.
