O que é Parkinson's law?

Have you ever heard of Parkinson's law? It is very easy to understand. Imagine your teacher gives you an assignment and the deadline is very tight. You have only one day to hand it in. So you work all the afternoon on that day and fortunately make it on time.

Now suppose you're given the same assignment, but this time with a very less strict deadline. You have a whole week. In that case, the idea is that the work you have to do will increase just to fill all of the time you have to do it in. That's Parkinson's law. The more time you have to do a certain work, the more work you'll have. Take a look at this example: If you tell him you want the work done by tomorrow, he'll get it done this afternoon, if you tell him next Thursday, he'll spend a week on it. It's Parkinson's law.
