Here in Brazil, a lot of guys want to become soccer players. Some of them are qualified enough to be selected to play on a sports team, some are not. As for the ones that have what it takes to be part of a team, once they're in, we can say they made the team. That is to say, they're good enough to be chosen to play on a sports team. So imagine this guy called Tiago. He's a really good soccer player and made the team. He's now playing for a very important national team.
Now imagine you're part of a crew of a very important company. There's this coworker of yours that's always chosen to lead groups and create projects for the company. Everybody would like to be in his place, but not everybody has what it takes to be such a good team played. A team player is someone who works well with a group, someone who's loyal to the group. Are you a team player? Let us know in the comment section.
Now imagine the place we're talking about now is a classroom. The expression we're touching on now is very commonly used by teachers in school when they want their students to join with each other to achieve something. So he asks you to team up with someone. The expression to team up simply means to join with someone. So in classroom you team up with someone to do a project. I hope this helps. Talk to you next time!
