Imagine you have a friend who has just come out of a very troublesome relationship. Actually she hasn't even managed to get over it. Everything around her that reminds her of her ex boyfriend makes her cry nonstop and you're afraid to be around her because of that. The thing is, you're going out for dinner tonight and you're trying to remind yourself all the time that never ever mention the name of her ex boyfriend or touch on anything related to him.
At the restaurant having dinner, your friend seems to be taking her new found single life pretty well. But not for too long. Accidentally you ask her about a ring she lent you and that you were supposed to give her back and she remembered that ring was given by her ex boyfriend as a pact of mutual love. There's no coming back. You've touched a sore spot and now she's crying like a baby. But wait, a sore spot? What is that?
When you touch a sore spot, you refer to a sensitive matter that will upset someone. In that case, your friend. She wasn't ready to talk about her boyfriend as much as she wasn't ready to be reminded of the ring, which in her head, was a great memory of her relationship. Just like a sore spot, literally speaking, when you touch it, it causes pain. In a figurative way, if you touch a sore spot, you make someone upset for bringing up a very sensitive subject. Have you ever been through a situation like that? Leave us your stories down bellow in the comment section. Bye bye!
