You know how fast musical industry is these days? One day, there's a huge hit that nobody can't get out of their heads, and then there comes a second one that replaces the previous one becoming the new sensation. On one hand, having so many options to choose from is a good thing; but on the other hand, that's a bad sign music today is made to attract huge audiences and therefore obtain money. There's no longer the idea of making music based on its quality, meaning or anything else that reflects something deeper. It's pure entertainment.
So take Lady Gaga as an example. When she premiered, with so many controversial lyrics and a very unique way of clothing, people couldn't stop talking about her. There's an old hit of hers called Poker Face that was back then the flavor of the mouth. Everybody kept listening and singing to its beat. Nowadays, not so much. It's become old stuff and now her fans are waiting for a new sensation to come. When anything, be it a song or a movie or anything else, becomes the flavor of the mouth, it means it's suddenly but temporarily popular. It's not like the songs by Frank Sinatra or Elvis Presley that were a sensation back then and still are these days. Can you remember of any song that used to be the flavor of the mouth but today nobody listens to it anymore? Let us know in the comment section. Bye bye!
