worth one's weight in gold: o que isso significa?

Imagine you're reading the book of your life. While you're reading it, you keep wondering what you were doing before that didn't let you get your hands on that book earlier in life. When you're talking to a friend, you're so excited to tell him about the book that you end up using a very good expression: The book I'm reading is worth its weight in gold. What does that mean?

When someone or something is worth their weight in gold, it means they're very valuable. So imagine you need a big favor, but there's no one to do it for you until a friend of yours comes along and says he can do it. You're so grateful for having him around that you say: You are worth your weight in gold. That means he's very valuable as a friend and that you're very thankful for what he's doing. If you take the literal meaning, you'll see that it's like the weight of something or someone is so precious that if they were weighted in a balance, their weight would be worth gold. That's it for today guys. Take care!
