Suppose you've been unemployed for a lot of time and you're starting to become desperate for that. You've left your job applications everywhere you go but not even a single call you've got. One day, when you least expects, your phone rings and it's the manager from some company saying he liked you in the interview and therefore the job is yours. You can't believe what just happened to you. Still on the phone with your new boss, you say: that job is like manna from heaven.
When something comes as a manna from heaven, it means it is unexpected help and comfort. Manna comes from the Bible when Jesus gave manna, which is a bread, to the Israelites. So getting something you need as much as bread when you're hungry is like manna from heaven. Maybe you're already employed, but in a very unexpected way you get a promotion.
