One of these days, when I was on a very crowded bus, I felt someone elbowing me aside to make way through the aisle. he was actually elbowing everybody aside and people seemed a little annoyed by the rude man. If you don't understand what elbow aside means, you probably don't know what an elbow is. Elbow is cotovelo as a noun, but as a verb, which is the case of our expression, it means using your elbow against things or people.
