In your life you have probably met many different kinds of people. So it is normal that sometimes some of them end up disappointing you. I don't know if you've ever experienced this, but at some point in your life someone might have spoken ill of you behind your back. And what makes it worse is that you may have once called that person a friend.
In English, there's a very interesting way to say someone spoke ill of you. Here's the expression: to badmouth. So imagine this friend of yours is always badmouthing you behind your back. He tells your mutual friends very negative things about you and you've been on to him for a very long time. One day, you decide to confront him and ask why he is acting in such a childish way. Here's what you say: I know you've badmouthed me to our friends behind my back. Why are you such a bad-mouth?
As you've probably noticed, a bad-mouth is someone who speaks ill of someone or something. It's very simple. If you badmouth people, you're a bad-mouth. Do you know anyone that's a bad-mouth?
