If you read the previous article, you might notice that the one we're touching on today sounds very similar to it. It only sounds familiar, because the meaning is completely different. We're talking about the expression "TO BITE THE BULLET".
SO, before I tell you what that expression means, let me take you through time way back in the past when the expression first came up. In times of war, when there was anesthesia to ease the pain, soldiers used to go under the knife having a bullet as the only thing to hold on to. I mean, the only thing to bite while going through a surgery. They bit the bullet as a way to put up with the pain. If that worked I don't know. All I know is that today when someone says they have to bite the bullet, they are just accepting something difficult and trying to live with it.
For example, you're living in a rented house and suddenly the rent goes up. You have nothing to do about that but accept the fact you're going to have to pay a few extra bucks to continue to live in that house. You are biting the bullet and dealing with a difficult situation. That's all for today. Take care!
