What's a burning question?

So imagine you're in a game about making each other questions about personal things. In Brazil, we call it verdade ou desafio". In English, that's truth or dare. So suppose there's a group of people playing that game and there's one person whose personal life everybody is interested in. He just cheated his wife and left her pregnant. The group in the game is kind of afraid of bringing up that topic but you're sure there'll be someone with the guts to ask him the burning question. But wait, burning question?

A burning question is the one whose answer everybody wants to know. So in the situation I just described, would would be the burning question? Why did he leave his wife pregnant without even looking back? That is the question everybody is looking forward to hearing. Have you ever had the guts to ask the burning question yourself?
