try the patience of / try someone's patience: o que isso significa?

So imagine you set up a meeting 2 weeks ago and you expected everybody would show up at the right time. Everybody actually did, but one. The meeting can't start without the presence of that person since he's got all the papers involved in the discussions you're having today.

After 30 minutes of delay, you think that's unacceptable and the meeting will now be affected for such irresponsibility. Maybe you'll even have to postpone the meeting. While talking to the other people at the meeting, you say: This time, I think he's really trying our patience. Not even a call he's made yet. He's definitely trying the patience of everybody here.

When you try someone's patience, you make everything to annoy them, to make them mad. Maybe that wasn't the case in the example above. But it seemed like it. It seemed like he planned on showing up late so everybody would be fed up by his attitude. That expression has a lot to do with irresponsibility, lack of consideration and sensibility. Do you know someone like that? Let us know in the comments section. Bye bye!
