the whole shebang: o que isso significa?

I remember the first day I had the chance to teach English. It was with some of my friends. So we would get together and I would guide them through a lot of topics at the same time. Now I see that my mistake at the time was to be too excited and talk about many things at the same time, the whole shebang. There was no set topic or a specific thing we should focus on. We would talk about anything that would pop first in our mind. Maybe if I had everything planned out beforehand, my first classed would have turned out way more interesting.

I don't know if you've seen the expression in bold text right above, but that's the expression we're discussing today. The whole shebang means the whole of something, including everything that is connected with it. So, in my first classes, we would discuss grammar, phrasal verbs, expressions, the whole shebang. Notice that you use that expression when you don't wanna be too specific or keep making a whole long list of things you want to mention. So you simply say "the whole shebang". I hope you enjoyed the expression of today. Take care!
