Don't pass judgment on something/someone: o que isso significa?

Imagine you see someone at a party and there's something about him that rubs you the wrong way, that is, you don't like that person because of some reason not even you know how to explain. A few months later, you find out that person is going to be your classmate at school and you're going to have to put up with his presence for a whole year.

When you talk to your friends about that person, you make questions about what he is or what's up with him that makes you dislike him so much. Your friends say nothing but good things about that person. They say he's kind and very considerate with his friends and that this thing you have against him is just because you haven't had the chance to talk to him and get to know him better. Here's what else your friends say: Don't pass judgment on that guy before you've met him yourself.

When you pass judgment on someone or something, you have a very strong opinion about it. Most likely, it is going to be a bad opinion. You can also pass judgment on something. For example, you don't like a certain brand of cellphone, but you've never had a cellphone from that brand to have the chance to mess with its features and stuff. One day, while you're talking about getting a new phone since your last one has broken, this friend of yours suggests you to buy a cellphone of that brand you dislike: Here's what he says: Don't pass judgment on something you don't know yet. Maybe once you get the phone, you'll start enjoying it. It's just a matter of getting used to it. That's it for today guys. Take care!
