During election times, like right now in Brazil since we're voting for the president and other 4 other positions, we're bombarded with many many promises. We know that everything we hear sounds like utopia and we're just fed up with how much of hot air their promises always turn out to be. But wait, what does hot air mean?
Hot air is "papo furado" in Portuguese. So when you say things people talk about is just a lot of hot air, you're saying that they are lying or their promises won't bring practical results. It's just a lot of hot air. If you're brazilian, do you feel like what the candidates say on the media during commercial breaks on television is just a lot of hot air?
