Imagine you have a very jealous girlfriend. Every time your friends calls you to go to a party or play some kind of sport, your girlfriend won't allow you to even consider the idea. She yells at you every time there's a girl passing by, and then she holds your hand very tight so everybody will know she owns you.

When you're talking to your friends, that you haven't seen in a while by the way, they give you a word of advice. Here's what they say: You shouldn't allow anybody take control of every action you take, control your thoughts and decisions. and that's what your girlfriend is doing: she's keeping you on a tight leash!

When you keep someone on a tight leash, you're giving them very little freedom to do what they want. Literally speaking, that's what people do to their dogs. They're kept on leashes, so they can't chew up everything they see in front of them, bite your neighbors or destroy your entire house. I'm talking about a very difficult dog, because my dog is very sweet and barely needs to be kept on a tight leash. Anyway, when it comes to people, have you ever had to keep someone on a tight leash so they won't have the freedom to do what they want? Or have you ever dated someone very jealous that always made a point to keep you on a tight leash? In my opinion, I think that's one of the main reasons why couples split up.
