Have the makings of: o que isso significa?

Imagine you spent a few hours going through some of the options for a good movie. You didn't want to spend 2 hours of your life watching a movie that would turn out to be bad, so you search for feedback, read the plot of the movie and now you're sure the one you've chosen is the right one. When a friend asks you what you're doing this afternoon, you say: I'm going to watch an excellent movie. I've read its plot and the story has all the makings of a great movie. I can't wait to see it.

When something like a movie or anything else has the makings of something, it means they possess the qualities that are needed for something. For example, the plot of the movie has the makings of a good one because you did your little research before. So now you predict that movie has the qualities needed to be a good one. Someone can also have the makings of something. For example, when I was a kid I used to draw a lot and people would make compliments about my drawings. They said I had the makings of a good drawer. That means I had everything that's needed to develop into a good drawer. Up to this day I still like to draw a lot, but whether I'm a good drawer or a bad drawer I really don't know.
